Today we entertained third place Metheringham in a title deciding game. We needed to win or draw to secure the League Title and Metheringham needed to draw or win to reach the play offs so there was a lot at stake for both clubs.
As you can imagine the game was played at a fast pace with chances falling to both teams in the first half but excellent defending from both sides and excellent keeping from both keepers kept the scoreline to 0-o at half time.
The second half started just the way the first half finished. The breakthrough for us came not long into the second half when a ball into the Metheringham penalty box was met by jon-jon and from a very tight angle managed to guide it into the goal. 1-0 to the Hawks. A few minutes later a very good passing move and an inch perfect pass from jon-jon to jonny gave him an easy tap in 2-0 to the Hawks. However Metheringham did not give up and with 4 minutes remaining scored to make it 2-1 and with only seconds left on the clock they scored another to make it 2-2 but all praise to North Lindum Hawks we managed to hold on till the final whistle to finish 2-2 and become B League Champions. Fantastic game of football from both teams what a way to end the season.
